Remote training, work, and gatherings have taken the world by storm. The days of large gatherings, get-togethers with friends or family, and even face-to-face brainstorming sessions with co-workers cease to exist. Although we may feel apart when it comes to our daily physical interactions, it doesn’t mean we can’t be together.
Many companies have found new ways when it comes to doing things remotely. Realtors now do house viewings online, doctors use telehealth to examine patients, and students learn from the comfort of their homes. But, how do large non-profits do it though, especially in industries where in-person gatherings and events used to make a huge impact?
A new digital workplace to bring a distributed team together
Special Olympics Canada (SOC) struggled to find a way to keep together their 49,600 athletes, 21,500 volunteers, 6,175 programs, and 150 internal staff that work behind the scenes. Being a countrywide organization and having to revert to online coaching, virtual charitable events, and a communication system that could target all these individuals; SOC needed to revert to a new online system.
For decades, Special Olympics Canada has increased the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle through sports. As new sponsors in 2020, Valo Solutions & Creospark have combined their efforts to facilitate Special Olympics Canada’s brand-new digital workplace. At the time of the writing of this article, from the Valo offering, Special Olympics Canada is using Valo Intranet/Extranet for sharing news, documents and updates nationwide. And they are evaluating the rest of the Valo modules: Valo Connect for bringing the intranet into Microsoft Teams, Valo Teamwork for managing workspace lifecycle, and Valo Ideas for ideation and innovation.
Dedicated to helping bring together the staff, employees, and volunteers of the SOC to further support these incredible athletes. You can read more about the case study Special Olympics Canada: Valo Extranet’s Flexible Security and Architecture Allows Access to Right People at the Right Time.
