New Product Announcement at Microsoft Ignite | Project Cortex

Microsoft Ignite 2019 News - Project Cortex

This was definitely the biggest news at Microsoft Ignite 2019. Project Cortex is AI technology that is able to aggregate, find and classify data for you! This allows you to have all of the content brought to you and organized in one central knowledge center. That means all of your M365 data is collected in one place, a topic page, where you can go easily view it.

Of course, even though it is AI and most of the work is automatic, having a human touch goes a long way! This is especially true since the frontend of Project Cortex will be SharePoint! This exciting news means that you will be able to set up your Project Cortex topic page to look/feel the way you want it to and even add webparts!

It looks like the aforementioned one hundred million active users will be growing even more with this product launch!

Vlad dives deeper into this topic in the video. So for more information, please watch the webinar recording above!

While the product is still in private preview, you can apply to be part of it here:

Delta Sync

Since earlier this year, Microsoft has had Delta Sync for office files. It allows files to sync offline and it would update the changes. This wasn’t the case for any other file you have in O365, mostly, because of the file size. Which for a lot of companies meant they couldn’t use OneDrive for Business. Now the world is your oyster and you can work offline without worry.

IT admins will fall in love with Data Sync because it will mean a lot less network traffic and faster sync for regular users.

Using Office 365 on the go just got easier

Up until this announcement, using Office tools on your phone didn’t feel seamless. However, those days are gone with the newest announcement for the Office app! The Office app will now act as the house for all of your incredible tools. Life just got a lot more productive on the go!

Investments in the Microsoft 365 platform and Fluid Framework

Microsoft has announced that they will be investing, once again, in the developer platform and more specifically, Fluid Framework.

Microsoft Dev Platform

So what is Fluid Framework? It strives to have the same experience across all of Microsoft 365 and have everything better synced.

How Microsoft Is Modernizing Intranets

Internal portals have developed a lot over the years and Microsoft doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Some worthy highlights include:

  • New Admin Center will greatly improve the lives of Admins everywhere
  • SharePoint Home Sites to hit general availability by the end of the year
  • More analytics! Including time spent on-page so you can finally find out if your employees are just skimming or actually reading the content

There was a lot more! To get all the details and roadmaps for how Microsoft is modernizing intranets, watch the webinar above.

Microsoft Ignite 2019 news about OneDrive

Tired of having to send emails to people so they know where to put your team’s files? Wouldn’t it be great if some of that was done for you? Well, with the Request Files feature you can. Simply create the folder, use the Request Files feature and it will automatically send them an email and give them permissions automatically.

Migration news out of Microsoft Ignite

Not only has Microsoft upped their migration game internally with new advancements to SharePoint Admin Center, they also purchased a company that specialized in Migration, Movers.

Now, you can migrate with ease directly from your SharePoint Admin Center and with the purchase of Movers, you can migrate from any cloud provider with ease!

And that’s a wrap

There we so many incredible announcements at Microsoft Ignite and we can’t wait for all of them! For more details on all these announcements, watch the webinar above! OR check out the slides here.
